How to Replace the Fuses in a Toyota Corolla

The Toyota Corolla has been through 10 generations since its debut in the U.S. in 1968. Although models earlier than 1988 may use different fuses or house them in another location, the process for replacing a blown electrical fuse is the same. This can be done in a matter of minutes with little cost involved.

     Turn the Corolla off. Locate the two fuse boxes; one is in the engine compartment on the driver's side and the other in the passenger compartment on the driver's side to the left of the steering wheel.

     Open the fuse box and review the fuse listing on the inside of the cover.

     Remove the fuse and inspect the wire in the middle of it. A blown fuse has a broken or melted wire.

     Replace the blown fuse with a new one of the same rating. Verify the fuse amp against the cover of the fuse box so as not to replace with the wrong amperage.

     Push the new fuse firmly into place and close the fuse box. Verify the fuse is in good working order once you restart your Corolla.
